Over the last few years I have had the privilege of working alongside TAPS' founder and CEO, Bonnie Carroll. Early in 2012 I was appointed to serve on the TAPS' Board of Directors, and was recently named as its Chairman. The TAPS Board works with Bonnie and her team to ensure the continued vital mission of helping family members cope when their loved ones are killed while serving our country.
As many of you may know, TAPS has a program called TAPS Run and Remember. This program is a yearlong fundraiser that takes place at different races throughout the country. The race gives individuals and families left behind the opportunity to run a race – from a 5K to a marathon – in memory of their lost loved ones. This commitment, training and participation in the event has proven to be very therapeutic and fulfilling by helping people celebrate, remember and honor the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their families and country.
This coming weekend is the Marine Corps Marathon, 10k and Kids Fun Run. I am proud to say that Telos has fielded a TAPS Run & Remember Team for both the Army 10 Miler and the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. This will be the third year that Telos employees are given the privilege to run in honor of a fallen hero, and to reach out to the surviving family members for support while they train for the race.
